OGS ANNOUNCES PRICE REDUCTION PROGRAM

New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner John C. Egan today announced that OGS is assisting state contract users to achieve savings on state contract purchases through the implementation of the OGS Price Reduction Program.  OGS recognizes that looming economic pressures and severe budget restrictions necessitate maximizing the budgets of public entities and nonprofit organizations.

In response to Governor Paterson’s call for innovative strategies to reduce spending, OGS Procurement Services Group (PSG) contacted vendors on state contract for the consideration of a voluntary price reduction of their contracted items.  The answer to this request resulted in 117 contractors offering additional discounts or price reductions that reduced their already competitive pricing.  OGS estimates a potential savings to state contract users of over $3.3 million.  In addition, some savings cannot be quantified, such as increased discounts for payment terms.

All negotiated price reductions were communicated to OGS customers through the OGS Purchaser Notification Service.  In addition, OGS also posted a complete list of all contractors who offered price considerations on the OGS website.  To receive contract updates, individuals must register on the OGS Purchaser Notification Service (PNS) at:  www.ogs.state.ny.us/PNS/

PNS is a free electronic notification service for government purchasers to receive information on OGS commodity, service, telecommunication and technology contracts, or other state procurement information.  Questions regarding PNS or OGS contracts may be directed to OGS Customer Service at (518) 474-6717, or by email: customer.services@ogs.state.ny.us
